Linda-McNay

By Molly Williamson

The Center for Student Philanthropy will host fundraising expert Linda Wise McNay at 10 a.m. Nov. 16 at the Boone Center to discuss “Six Things Every College Student Should Know about Fundraising.” Her interactive presentation covers how student organizations can further their philanthropic efforts.

Spots are open for 50 students. Brunch will be provided.

With more than 30 years of fundraising experience, McNay is an Atlanta-based consultant who founded Our Fundraising Search. She coaches more than 150 clients, helping them raise more money and engage more donors. McNay also teaches online courses for churches, nonprofit organizations and schools and wrote The Adventures of Phil and Thropy, a children book teaching kids the importance of giving back.

McNay’s presentation will further the Center for Student Philanthropy’s mission – to create a culture of philanthropy on campus. Opened in 2018, the center is one of the first of its kind in the nation. It aims to educate students about the need for philanthropy, to equip them with the resources they need to volunteer and fundraise for their organizations and to spread the joy of philanthropy throughout the region.

The center supports Kentucky Can: The 21st Century Campaign, a $2.1 billion comprehensive campaign focused on increasing opportunities for student success, funding innovative research, improving health care, strengthening our alumni network, and supporting our athletic programs. One of the campaign’s goals is to increase alumni giving by 21 percent. By teaching students the importance of philanthropy, the center will show students how their gifts after graduation will help support future Wildcats and sustain programs that mean the most to them.
