New York philanthropist Tom Golisano announces $50 million gift to UK, UK HealthCare to support Kentucky kids

Entrepreneur and philanthropist Tom Golisano announced Tuesday that the University of Kentucky and UK HealthCare will receive a historic $50 million gift that will transform pediatric health care in Kentucky.

UK receives $150 million gift from The Bill Gatton Foundation to create arts district

The University of Kentucky Board of Trustees today accepted a $150 million gift from The Bill Gatton Foundation to construct a new arts district, including a new College of Fine Arts building and a several-hundred seat theater.

The gift is the single largest in UK’s history.

Plans Approved for Martin School Move to Permanent New Home in Miller Hall

The Martin School of Public Policy and Administration is going to have a permanent new home. University officials have given final approval for the School’s relocation from the Patterson Office Tower to historic Miller Hall, which will undergo a major renovation expected to be complete by January 2025.

Woodland Glen III renamed in honor of Stanley and Karen Pigman

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 13, 2022) — Approved by the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees in today’s meeting, Woodland Glen III, the residence facility for students in the University of Kentucky College of Engineering’s Living Learning Program (LLP), is being renamed Pigman Hall in recognition of Stanley and Karen Pigman’s impact on the college.

Corrine Elliott began researching at the University of Kentucky while she was still in high school through Paul Laurence Dunbar's Math, Science, and Technology Center magnet program. She became one of the earliest members of the Odom Research Group, an organic chemistry laboratory specializing in energy storage.

Cornerstone Tour

On June 23, the Women and Philanthropy Network hosted a tour of The Cornerstone, a reimagined space on the site of the former Kennedy Book Store, at the corner of S. Limestone and Winslow Streets.

Participants toured the space and learned about Kentucky Esports and UK's Smart Campus Initiative.

Jill Smith is the executive director of the University of Kentucky Alumni Association. She earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management in 2005 from the UK Gatton College of Business and Economics and a master’s degree in career and technical education from the UK College of Agriculture, Food and Environment in 2011. 

Where did you grow up and where is your home now?

Paducah, Kentucky is my hometown. I now live in Lexington. I came to UK as a student in the fall of 2001 and never left!
