A native of Dayton, Ohio, Emma has spent her three years at the University of Kentucky serving her community. In addition to volunteering at UK HealthCare and Step by Step Lexington, Emma is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, Global Brigades, the American Medical Student Association, the Center for Community Outreach, Lewis Honors College and DanceBlue.
“When I stepped onto campus, I immediately loved it,” Emma said. “I was excited about the academic opportunities, organizations to join and the overall spirit of the school. I have always been a strong believer that those who have the ability to take action also have the responsibility to take action. Giving back to the community empowers the people in that community, and it is great for your own personal growth.”
Now, as a member of the Student Philanthropy Board, she hopes to learn more about the university and to find ways to engage students on campus.
“I hope to start getting students involved with philanthropies that they are passionate about from their freshman year,” Emma said. “Early involvement can be vital to finding a home at UK and making personal and professional decisions that lead to student success.”
